Have you ever heart of the saying that a red tie is a power tie? It’s true! The reason is the colour of the tie is so eye catching that it makes the person wearing it attract more attention to them, which is very important especially in business. This all derives from everyone’s overall attraction to the colour red, as well as the many meanings red has in different cultures and overall history.
When it comes to the cultures and the way the colour red is viewed, make sure to understand that there are very different ranges of views from the Eastern and Western cultures. The western culture which is primarily Christian the colour red usually represents rather negative things such as blood, sin, and jealousy. A person that is angry is usually said to be seeing red, or turning red with anger, and even the devil is even pictured as being red. Though these are all rather negative views on the colour red, in many ways the Eastern Culture has had an effect on everyone’s views on the colour in modern day. In Chinese cultures the depiction of wealth, good luck, and fertility are all depicted in the colour red.
An overall view of luxury and prosperity the colour red has grown into a symbol for overall success. Today the Eastern and Western cultures have intermixed and over time the understanding of red has somewhat left it’s negative views in the Western World, and more and more the red tie has become a more popular choice in the business world. However, before wearing such a tie, think about the attention you will be getting, and ensure that you are prepared for it, because it can work for you both positively or negatively.
There are many different choices of ties available, and choosing the proper tone of red, the right material, or design is essential to match it to your wardrobe. If you don’t want the overall look to be overly flashy and are looking for a more understated feel, consider a wool tie. Try to go for a more burgundy colour instead of a lighter tone. This will still get the positive effect of the red tie, but wont be as sharp. Now, if you want a power tie which is exactly that by all means, then the silk tie is the best choice for you. With the ability to offer three dimensions, the silk is smooth and reflects light beautifully. This makes the tie very powerful and fitting for someone seeking success.
Finally, in order to leave the wanted impression you have to wear your tie properly and match it to your outfit. If you plan on wearing a red tie, make sure that the rest of your outfit it is plain enough to keep the attention on the tie; so avoid wearing it with a busy or overwhelming suit. Try to avoid coloured shirts, stick to the traditional white, which not only gives the red a great backdrop, but also further attracts the eye to it. You can also go for a black shirt which could be more daring and offers a more mysterious feel to the outfit. So, if you are ready for the power tie and prepared for the attention which you will receive while wearing it, wear it properly and brace yourself.
